The owner of Yamauchi Garden has been renovating the garden in order to make it more enjoyable for visitors.
The renovation is scheduled to be completed around 2022, and the garden currently has 400 square meters of shelves filled with bonsai.
Mr. Yamauchi specializes in handcrafting. With his dexterity and his own ideas, the bonsai trees are rich in expression. The bonsai trees are displayed in different heights to give a sense of balance to the entire garden, and can be viewed from various angles.
About 1,000 small and large bonsai trees
There are about 1,000 small, medium, and large bonsai trees, mainly Goyomatsu, and they can meet the needs of many people, from small bonsai to bonsai worth 10 million yen.
In terms of tree shape, there are many Bunjin trees, which are characterized by their slender and soft shape. They also have a wide range of other bonsai such as Black Pine, true oak, and miscellaneous trees. He is always taking care of his bonsai to make his customers happy.
A bonsai craftsman who also has pottery skills
The pathway leading from the gate to the entrance is lined with Mr. Yamauchi's pride and joy, the Bunjin Bonsai. He plans to line up the bonsai on both sides of the path. Once inside, the path leads to the garden where the bonsai are displayed, which is also under construction.
In addition to managing the bonsai, he is also working on pottery. Even the kiln is handmade, and he fires pots for exhibitions in his own kiln. He even made his own rest room, where his sense of style shines through.
Devoting his whole life to making things
Mr. Yamauchi says he has loved making things since he was a child. He says that bonsai has a lot of depth and he is still discovering new things about it. As you stroll through the park, you can see Mr. Yamauchi's passion for making things everywhere.
