A unique bonsai with a different taste
Mr. Honda's bonsai is different from other bonsai. Normally, a natural tree is made into a bonsai, but Mr. Honda's bonsai is shaped like a mountain. It would be nice to have it in my garden and be able to look at the mountain all the time. I have seen a lot of bonsai, but I have not seen this kind of shape. All you can see is the lush foliage, but this bonsai has an unmistakable charm.
Bonsai inherited from the previous generation
There are 500 Akaishi Goyomatsu in the field. The field looks like a mountain range with many mountains in a row. Mr. Honda, who took over the project from his predecessor, had the option to make it more like a standard bonsai, but he did not do so. He also inherited his predecessor's desire to create this characteristic mountain shape.
What lies ahead after years of work
Due to the large size of the trees, the trellis area is as much as two acres, but the owner, Mr. Honda, manages it by himself. He inherited a tree-shaped five-leaf pine tree and has been growing it for more than 50 years. This bonsai is completely different from a tree that has been shaped by applying wire, it looks natural and yet it is a well-made tree. Mr. Honda said that he goes out to the field to take care of the tree no matter how hot or cold it is. Bonsai trees can live for hundreds of years. Mr. Honda says that his work is still in the middle of the road. The never-ending work will eventually be passed on to his successors, and Mr. Honda's thoughts will also live on for hundreds of years. Perhaps the value of bonsai is the depth of the feelings.
