Mastering a Hobby
Mr. Akira Inoue is a member of a local producer's group and is working to promote the Akaishi Goyomatsu to the world. While many people become bonsai craftsmen by following their family business for generations, Mr. Inoue started bonsai as an enthusiast. He is finicky not only about the trees, but also about the bonsai pots and accessories. In particular, he is very fussy about stones, and even climbs steep mountains to mine them.
Natural Stone from Akaishi Mountain
The local Akaishi Mountain is made up of olivine, also known as pomegranate stone, which is characterized by its reddish color. This rock is located in the mantle deep in the earth's crust and is rarely seen on the surface, making it a rare rock in Japan. For some reason, this rock was exposed on the surface of the mountain, and when it was mined, it became a local specialty as a stone for appreciation because of its beauty. Mr. Inoue was fascinated by bonsai trees and pomegranate stones, which are representative of the local natural landscape.
Bringing Local Scenery to the World
"I want people to know more about the wonderful bonsai and natural stones of my hometown where I was born and raised. I want to preserve them for future generations." With this in mind, he is energetically working as a bonsai producer and as a board member of a producer's organization.
At Mr. Inoue's bonsai garden, you can see bonsai consisting of mainly pine trees and many natural stones.
