Aging of bonsai craftsmen

As a number of bonsai craftsmen in the Akaishi Goyomatsu Export Promotion Association are aging and the number of farmers is gradually decreasing, the Akaishi Goyomatsu is currently in danger of dying out. If this trend continues, it is highly likely that the approximately 200,000 bonsai trees that currently exist will begin to die.

It is also difficult for foreign buyers to come to Japan to buy because of the Corona pandemic, and it is difficult to build shelves in the EU, so it is more difficult to sell bonsai than before.

Therefore, we are making efforts to create an English version of our website and to post on Instagram and Facebook in order to promote our products overseas. We have also launched an e-commerce site to promote the appeal of Akaishi Goyomatsu, the highest quality brand of bonsai, and to facilitate sales. Please follow us as we provide various information about bonsai.

Training the next generation of bonsai craftsmen

The Akaishi Goyomatsu Export Promotion Association is also committed to training the next generation of bonsai craftsmen. We will be updating the whole story on Instagram, Facebook, and our website.

Making bonsai a sustainable industry

As mentioned above, the aging of bonsai craftsmen is becoming a problem these days, and it is becoming more important to pass on bonsai to the next generation. Therefore, what we should do for young people is to guarantee that they can make a living by growing bonsai.

In order to create such an attractive work environment, we should continue to promote the appeal of Akaishi Goyomatsu to people around the world. We are confident that if we can continue to deliver the charm of the original Akaishi Goyomatsu to people all over the world, they will fall in love with Akaishi Goyomatsu.
